Positive Reviews
positive:
Setting is pleasant and convenient
A great many visitors loved that this hotel is set in a nice leafy locale with a laid-back, bustle-free vibe. In addition, guests also appreciated being able to access the famed Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard within a matter of minutes, and having the metro station so close by as it makes exploring the city a cinch.
positive:
Buffet breakfast is a big hit
It has been noted that the generous, buffet-style breakfasts proffered here are well worth waking up (relatively) early for. Some guests have been so impressed that they've suggested it's the best breakfast in Germany!
positive:
Heritage property is a big drawer
The vast majority of travellers who've stayed here have cooed over the classical beauty of the inside and outside of this elegant, early 20th-century building. Many admirers thought it made their visit to Berlin feel significantly more special and, in some cases, more romantic.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Noise can be an issue in some rooms
Numerous travellers have observed that the accommodations which face the train yards (to the north) are prone to being disturbed by S-Bahn trains screeching their brakes on entry to Hallansee metro station. Suffice to say, this is not appreciated at 5am when the first commuter trains get going.
negative:
No tea or coffee in the room
It is fair to say very few visitors have been won over by this hotel's policy of not providing any tea or coffee-making facilities in the guest rooms. That being said, complimentary tea is made available at reception during the afternoon; no coffee though.
negative:
Air-conditioning is virtually non-existent
A significant number of disgruntled guests have raised the issue of their not being any effective air-conditioning measures in almost all of the accommodations.
