The customer service provided by the Imperial Inn was commended by most former guests. Along with always being available, the hotel's staff members were typically praised for their friendly and accommodating attitude.

In terms of the amenities supplied, the rooms were generally admired by previous visitors that stayed at the hotel. With home comforts such as a refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea making facilities and cable television, the accommodation's rooms have been judged as well-equipped.

Past guests that used the facility were very happy about the Imperial Inn's free on-site parking. As well as an ample amount of spaces, the parking lot is also gated and secure - which gave people peace of mind about the safety of their vehicle during their time at the hotel.

Although it is conveniently positioned near to public transport links, the location of the Imperial Inn was not seen in the best light by some former visitors. As well as downtown Oakland being over 30 minutes away on foot, the hotel is also said to not be in the most pleasant of neighborhoods.

The cleanliness levels of the rooms at the hotel have received a mixed reception from past guests. Despite some saying they were clean, the rooms - with reports of stained carpets and furniture, pungent smells and bug sightings - have been criticized for their hygiene standards at times.

Whilst the size of the living space in the rooms was rarely an issue, some of the private bathrooms were labeled as overly small and cramped by various previous visitors that stayed at the Imperial Inn.
