Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent central location...
Guests love the hotel's location on North Terrace, opposite the train station and close to a (free) inner city tram stop. Many top attractions, including the Oval, Casino, Zoo, and all kinds of restaurants and shops are within a comfortable walk. The back of the hotel faces Hindley Street, popular for its nightlife.
positive:
Comfortable, clean, compact rooms...
The rooms are widely described as small but clean and well equipped with a flat-screen television and very comfortable beds, though the rolling wheels make sitting up to read at night a bit of a challenge!
positive:
Friendly faces at the front desk...
The reception staff earn many positive reviews for their friendly and professional service. Guests are favourably impressed by their knowledge of the area and prompt, polite resolution of reported issues. The buffet breakfast gets high marks too, with guests describing the food as hot, varied, and fresh.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Hot or cold...
Guests have reported difficulty with both the heating and cooling systems depending on the season. Others are hot and bothered by the long walk upstairs and through narrow hallways with their luggage, as there is no elevator access.
negative:
An unappealing shade of green...
Guests frequently comment that the green paint, basic decor, and tight square footage add up to a "dormitory" vibe. The frosted glass door to the bathroom is a privacy issue for couples, too, and many find the bathroom itself very uncomfortable due to its size.
negative:
Best for heavy sleepers and night owls...
Music from the night clubs on nearby Hindley Street is a frequently reported source of sleep disturbance.
