Positive Reviews
positive:
Location, location, location..
Guests rave about the hotel's location in the Golden Triangle, about 5-10 minutes from the White House on foot. The National Mall is within a 15-minute walk. The metro is also very close; the orange and blue lines are just one block away and the red line is two blocks, so guests often comment that it is an ideal base for seeing all of the city's tourist attractions, though it is also convenient for business travelers. .
positive:
Friendly, knowledgeable staff
The front desk staff frequently receive rave reviews for their personable and professional customer service, with guests often commenting on their genuine smiles. The team is happy to provide maps as well as verbal directions, and printed menus along with restaurant recommendations. Many guests feel they "go out of their way" to make sure every guest has a fun, memorable visit to DC.
positive:
Modern rooms in a historical building..
Most guests find the rooms to be spotlessly clean, quiet, and spacious, with modern furnishings and comfortable beds. Many are charmed by the beautifully restored older building, and the lobby is often described as "fancy", with lots of "wow".
Negative Reviews
negative:
A noisy night for some..
Several guests note that the hotel shares a back alleyway with a popular, and therefore noisy, night club, so light sleepers in rooms facing the alley could not get a good night's rest. Some also found the air conditioning units too loud.
negative:
Rooms are on the small side..
Guests often note that the rooms are quite a bit smaller than those you would find in a newer, purpose-built Hampton Inn. Also, they do not feature a fridge or microwave.
negative:
Paper or plastic..
Though reviews of the breakfast are generally positive, several guests were put off by the paper plates and plastic cutlery.
