Positive Reviews
positive:
Clean, traditional rooms.
Kensington Hotel offers rooms that are more traditional in look and feel, with carpeted floors, comfortable beds and minimal décor. The entire space, including the carpet and private bathroom, is kept very clean and is well-maintained.
positive:
Great front desk.
The hotel features a 24-hour front desk and the hotel staff manning this first point of contact are friendly and well-spoken, able to converse in English and are more than happy to arrange cabs, give directions and even book tickets to Opera Garnier and other Paris attractions.
positive:
Room features that matter.
While the rooms at Kensington Hotel don't offer a great deal of amenities like tea and coffee making facilities, they do offer other amenities that perhaps are more important. Room features include direct dial telephones and rooms safes, two items that most would consider as must-haves.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Can be noisy.
With a location that is just two blocks from the Eiffel Tower and in the heart of Paris's trendy 7th district, one should expect a fair amount of street and traffic noise. This is however only more of a problem when the windows are open, light sleepers may wish to consider booking on the top floor instead.
negative:
Tricky Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi connectivity in rooms is almost non-existent and the erratic nature of the connection means that this free service is not ideal for business or for researching the city, booking tickets or planning the day's itinerary. Wi-Fi connectivity is somewhat better in the lobby area however.
negative:
Breakfast not included.
The continental buffet breakfast which is served each morning in the hotel breakfast room or, for more convenience, served in-room, is not included in the daily room rate and is an optional extra. There are also plenty of Parisian cafes in the immediate area worth checking out.
