Grand Hôtel des Alpes (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France)

The central town location of the hotel was mentioned in a number of complimentary reviews. Previous guests on the Mont Blanc side of the hotel also commented on the stunning views of the mountains from their private balconies.

The afternoon aperitif including complimentary canapés was the highlight for a number of guests who after a long day skiing and exploring the valley appreciated the extra effort to provide a relaxing afternoon atmposhere.

A number of previous guests to the hotel commented on the excellent service provided by staff. A common theme across reviews was that staff were efficient and quick in dealing with guest requests and did so with a friendly and positive attitude.

A number of guests commented that the lack of air-conditioning was a problem for them during the summer months, with the rooms becoming very stuffy and hot. In other reviews guests complained that in winter the heating was not warm enough to make their stay a pleasent one.

Guests who stayed on the street side of the hotel commented on the noise from central Chamonix, that disrupted their stay. It seems that people wandering home from Chamonix's many bars and nearby nightclubs were a little loud and the noise carried into the hotel.

Some guests who stayed at the hotel were not overly impressed by its style or the decor. Some commented that they thought that the furniture was a bit dated and in need of updating to give the hotel a more modern and contemporary feel.
