Positive Reviews
positive:
Fabulous for foodies
There's little doubting the appeal of the Edgbaston for foodies. Guests consistently rave about the dining here, often heaping particular praise on the afternoon teas. Guests like the sophisticated surroundings of the various dining and drinks spots in the hotel and also find the cocktails are a real treat.
positive:
Boutique style rooms
Guests comment favourably about the guest rooms. A handful found they were a bit too dark but most focus on the positives such as the luxury leather beds and Victorian-style free-standing baths. Guests note that the attention to detail such as the extra treats makes a stay here memorable for all the right reasons.
positive:
Excellent hospitality
Bar a few issues when the hotel was short-staffed, the service here consistently impresses guests, with many describing the owners and staff as nothing short of amazing. Some simply found them friendly and engaging but were impressed nonetheless.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No cooked breakfast
A number of previous guests would have loved there to be a cooked breakfast included in the rate. On the plus side, guests do typically enjoy the continental breakfast that is provided. The option to enjoy breakfast in the room is also appreciated.
negative:
High minibar prices
Although few guests find the overall cost to visit this hotel excessive, a fair number of comments indicate that the prices of minibar items are extortionate. While items such as these are rarely cheap, one guest described the prices as higher than aeroplane prices!
negative:
Some noise issues
Guests occasionally mention that the soundproofing in this hotel could be improved. As it is, some noise from the bar is likely to be heard in the lower rooms. The rooms at the top of the building seem to escape the noise but do mean you'll need to tackle a fair amount of stairs.
