The heated rooftop pool, with gardens and live ducks milling about, are a quaint and memorable touch that's appreciated and enjoyed at Hotel Bonaventure Montréal. It's one of those things that delights guests when they discover it truly exists here.

Overpriced menus and overhyped accommodations
Although the rooms and hotel itself are nice, they're not grand enough to warrant the hype and the pricing. The furnishings are worn down, and the décor has seen better days. The restaurant menus too don't live up to their reputations or praise, and do not justify their costs.

Elevator is slow and noisy for rooms next to it
The elevator can be rather slow, which results in long waits, crowded space when it arrives, and sometimes just skipping it for the long stairs. Be advised that if your room is near the elevator,you may be disrupted by its noise, along with the noise from the guests.

Garbage and odors because of poor housekeeping
Housekeeping is not always consistent or thorough enough to eliminate odors or remove all trash. There are still signs of previous use, including stained linens, dust bunnies, and bathroom grime and dirt.
