The building has been decorated to reflect its age, with the 18th-century décor being appreciated by guests as they reported feeling like stepping back in time upon first entering the building and noticing the painted mural in the lobby. The rooms open with old-fashioned metal keys and are equipped with antique and retro furniture including unique sleigh beds and rotary phones, all of which complete the historic theme.

The hotel is a short walk from Downtown Baltimore, near the University of Baltimore and less than a 20-minute walk from the harbor and the Convention Center.

Guests found the hotel to be affordable given its location and amenities, and they felt their stay was a good value. The rooms are spacious with a sitting area and they are clean, as are the bathrooms, which guests noted provided ample hot water when taking a shower.

Guests pointed out that the hotel does not have an elevator, but the rooms are spread out across four floors, and you have to go up several steps to get to the front desk.

Some of the items in the rooms appear to be a bit old such as the refrigerators and microwaves, and the paint could use some refreshing as guests pointed out.

Apart from the absence of a TV guide, guests noted that there was no information in the rooms as to how to contact the front desk, what amenities were available or what could be found nearby.
