Reception staff members are very courteous, friendly and helpful; even stretching to supplying cold drinks while waiting to check-in. More than welcome on a hot Havana day! You don't find that level of consideration in many, much ‘swankier' hotels. Neither do you often find help getting luggage to the room - but you do here! AND ... they'll arrange your airport taxi for you. They all deserve a cigar!
If you pop in to the bar (*it feels more like a canteen actually), the bar staff are very friendly and entertaining. This laid back atmosphere is thankfully present throughout the hotel. OK, you really need an inexpensive cab to get to the high life of the Old Town, but this is much quieter, so far better for a good night's sleep.
Buffet food in the restaurant is generously proportioned, so, if eating here, you won't starve.
Why is it called the Bella Habana Aeropuerto when, actually, it's miles from the airport?!
You do wonder if they actually change the bed linen following the departure of previous guests. It looks as if they don't. The small army of insects in the room also suggests that there are worrying issues here.
The only buzz you'll get from this place is that from the electrical sockets. This is a permanent problem. Air conditioning is even worse so, however much you want it, you'll probably leave it turned off.
