The guests who have stayed at the Aussie Lodge unanimously agree that the utter lack of cleanliness standards is entirely unacceptable. From stains on curtains, sheets, and other hotel fixtures, to finding discoveries apparently left behind by past guests, you can't expect much in terms of cleanliness from this hotel. A few guests have even mentioned sightings of cockroaches, others have noticed an unpleasant smell that seems to emanate from the rooms' bedding.

If you do ever get a hold of the staff - which may be difficult, as some guests have mentioned that it can be a challenge to track down anyone who works at the hotel - you probably won't be greeted with overwhelming hospitality. Some guests have even mentioned arguments over payments, while others have wondered whether the staff are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, due to displays of bizarre behaviour.  Should you choose to bring up any room issues with management, you will likely be met with hostility.

Don't expect a powerful, hot shower during your stay here; in fact, guests find it's best not to expect anything beyond a slow trickle. Likewise, the toilets are unreliable, and there have been reports of some occasions on which the toilets didn't work at all.
