Positive Reviews
positive:
Convenient location close to BR stations
It seems many guest were actually heading in to London, rather than visiting the immediate area. They were very pleased to find two suburban rail stations very nearby, from where they could be whisked to Kings Cross in no time at all.
positive:
Friendly and helpful staff
While there were a couple of contrary opinions, the majority of guests had nothing but good things o sat about the staff. They were said to have great attitudes and also go out of their way to try to help guests with their query or issue.
positive:
Rooms very clean
Again, while there were a few contrary opinions, most guests said that their room, and the public areas of the hotel were kept very clean during the course of their stay.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Creaking floorboards
While it certainly wasn't listed as a major negative point, a couple of guest did point out that the building, while charming, is also quite old and the floorboards tend to creak no matter how carefully one walks over them. Those who believe in ghosts should have an interesting night.
negative:
Difficult to find parking
While guests did appreciate that Holtwhites had off street parking, they went on to add that there were very few bays and, since it operated on a first come first served basis, there were many times when they couldn't find a spot. Of course this meant they had to search the nearby streets for suitable public parking.
negative:
No food available
While there were some indications in March 2016 that this might be changing, guests mentioned that neither breakfast, nor other meals, was available at Holtwhites. There is a nearby café, which tended to be well reviewed, but some guests would have liked the convenience of breakfast at their hotel instead.
