Hofsas House Hotel (Carmel-by-the-Sea, USA)

Hofsas House is ideally located close to both downtown Carmel and the beach. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within a five-minute walk from the hotel, and most of the local area is accessible by walking. In addition, local attractions and wineries are only a short drive away, and if you’re looking for a farther day trip, you can even reach Monterey.

Most guests loved their stay at Hofsas House, largely thanks to the wonderful staff which provided a comfortable family atmosphere. Everyone was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Other highlights were the hotel’s observation deck, which yields beautiful views of the ocean, and the pool, a relaxing spot to unwind. In addition guests also recommend getting a room with a fireplace for a cozy experience.

The continental breakfast is simple but satisfying. Guests appreciated the availability of fresh fruit and various healthy options. Everything was fresh and tasty, especially the pastries, which get delivered every morning from a local bakery.

Some guests complained about poor soundproofing in their rooms, and said they could hear their neighbors too well. If you’re a light sleeper, you may want to consider packing along some earplugs as a precaution.

Though guests were overall pleased with their rooms, many think that the once charming décor is now simply dated, boring and a bit dull. In addition, most rooms also still have old tube TVs and guests think it’s time for an upgrade.

There is no elevator onsite and some rooms require stairs. If you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues, you may want to call ahead and ask which room would be most suitable for you.
