Located in the smallest town in Devon, the George cuts an impressive figure, with its striking thatched roof in the heart of Hatherleigh. Originally built in 1450 it was completely destroyed by fire in 2008, and has undergone a sympathetic rebuild, in the style of the original but with modern features. It was reopened in 2010, and The George seamlessly combines contemporary style and charisma with distinctive period features. Exposed oak beams and open log fires perfectly compliment modern soft furnishings and warm décor to create a relaxed and inviting accommodation and dining experience. All of the 13 en-suite rooms offer a spacious and inviting space for a stay in the area. Contemporary in style, each room blends warm and bright décor with distinctive period features, including exposed wooden beams and feature fireplaces. A range of accommodation options are available, including double and twin rooms as well as superior rooms which offers a 6ft four poster bed and in-room roll top baths. We have a room on the ground floor which offers an accessible twin or double room for those with disabilities.
