Positive Reviews
positive:
Iconic views of the Big Apple.
Views of the Empire State Building without a gigantic price tag - it sounds good, right? On the map, this hotel may look a bit out of the way, but it's only a hop across from Manhattan Island, and the views are awesome. Guests recommend the city view rooms for the ultimate New York feeling.
positive:
Hop on the bus to Times Square.
Guests say that the front desk staff are happy to furnish you with maps and bus schedules, and it couldn't be easier to get to Manhattan - the bus station is just a short walk away, then it's a swift 30-minute ride through the Lincoln Tunnel, and you're in the center of all the action. Easy as that!
positive:
Clean, comfy rooms.
The rooms may not be ultra fancy, but they're contemporary, comfortable, and clean - and they're probably up there with the most spacious rooms you can find in the vicinity of New York City. Guests think that they offer good value for money, and provide a restful night's sleep.
Negative Reviews
negative:
The service isn't always the best.
Numerous guests have complained about the service, with some problems in communication or providing help where needed. Mostly, it seems that the staff is professional and efficient, but not always amazingly friendly, so you may find the attitude a little brusque at times.
negative:
Some amenities are lacking.
Some guests have been disappointed to find that the rooms don't have refrigerators or microwaves, which they consider standard amenities. There are also quite a few complaints about the state of the air conditioning, which seems to be a bit old and cranky, and the hotel could use an overall upgrade.
negative:
Parking is a bit of a mess.
There are very few parking spaces onsite, and the rest of the hotel's advertised free parking is in a different lot quite far away from the hotel. A complimentary taxi will then run you to the hotel, but many guests seem to find this a stressful and confusing experience, that doesn't operate as well as it should.
