Short car or bike ride from University of Chicago
No matter what your reasons for heading to Chicago, you'll discover that the hotel is both reasonably priced and extremely close to the city center. But if you're in town to visit the U of C, you can be on campus in about 10 minutes by bicycle or via car.

Free parking is a gift near downtown
Downtown Chicago is not only magnificent, but it's also extremely packed full of cars. Finding parking can be a real challenge. While visiting the city, you can avoid the hassle of finding a spot downtown with the Chicago Lake Shore Hotel's courtesy lot. They also offer a shuttle to nearby attractions for added convenience.

Lovely lake shore vistas
At the hotel, you'll find Million Dollar Mile views without million dollar prices. The hotel complex is located right along Lake Michigan, and guests suggest to book a room overlooking the water for the view.

Close but still a little ways out
Although it's hard to any closer to Chicago than this, at least for the price, some guests still felt that the hotel was too far from the downtown area. However, without much trouble, you can hop on a bus, grab a train, or drive to many popular attractions in about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.
negative:
Limited Wi-Fi reach
The Chicago Lake Shore Hotel does provide its visitors with complimentary wireless Internet. Unfortunately, some past travelers mentioned that the signal didn't quite extend to the outermost rooms in hotel's complex. You may wish to bring a Wi-Fi hot spot for a guaranteed signal.

Could use an update..
Many guests of the hotel found the rooms a little run down, the décor in need of an updating, and the heating and AC units in need of replacement. However, recent visitors have mentioned that renovations are underway. Hopefully, these refits will solve all of the issues.
