Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly and helpful hosts
Guests consistently rate the standard of service offered at the Cables highly. Roger and Maureen, owners and hosts of the property, seem to welcome guests (and their children and pets) with open arms. This pair is knowledgeable about the local area and happy to share ideas for walks and other attractions.
positive:
Great breakfast with lots of choice
Not only are the hosts friendly, it also appears that they can knock up a mean breakfast (although Roger seems to do the lion's share of the kitchen duties). Guests find the menu is varied and there really is something for everyone. Plus, the dining room offers pleasant surroundings.
positive:
Comfortable and well-equipped rooms
Feedback about the Cables often indicates that this is a B&B and then some. Guests are impressed by how clean and comfortable the rooms are and also mention that the selection of provided amenities goes far beyond a typical B&B.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some traffic noise from the A6
A handful of guests mention that they were able to hear some traffic noise from the A6. However, the B&B does feature double glazing, so it is rarely deemed a deal breaker. Plus, many guests specifically mention that they found the rooms were quiet.
negative:
Pizza not always available
Given that so many people have enjoyed Roger's woodfired pizzas, it came as a disappointment to those who were unable to get one. They are only cooked on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and, even then, it depends on the weather.
negative:
Minor and infrequent issues
Feedback for the Cable indicates that there are no areas of significant concern here. Guests occasionally mention minor issues such as the occasional problem with the Wi-Fi and the corkage fee for some drinks, but most are impressed with all aspects of the accommodation.
