About Barksdale House Inn
The Barksdale House Inn, dating from 1788, is located in the historic centre of Charleston. It’s a ten-minute walk to Charleston City Market which is home to numerous stalls selling antiques, souvenirs and artisan products.
The 14 individually-styled rooms feature charming antique furniture and period furnishings. A private bathroom, complimentary Wi-Fi and a fridge are all standard. For an extra touch of comfort, guests can choose a room with a four-poster bed and a whirlpool tub.
Parking and newspapers are provided free. Also, members of staff are on hand to provide tourist information and recommend restaurants in the area.

Beds not to everyone's liking
The beds, which are a period feature of the rooms, don't suit everyone's tastes. A few guests described the beds as uncomfortable and for some the beds were also too short. However, other guests found the beds very comfortable and felt they added to the whole ambiance of the room.

Some guests report that they were inconvenienced by renovation work in the porch area of the hotel. It's not clear how long this programme of work will last and it may have already been completed.
