Positive Reviews
positive:
Reasonable quality rooms
The rooms at the Hampton Inn Allentown don't escape criticism, but the biggest issue appears to be that the accommodation looks dated. Beyond that, guests often describe the rooms as clean. Those rooms that feature a microwave and mini-fridge attract the most compliments, presumably because of the added convenience. .
positive:
Convenient location
Although having a car is beneficial at this hotel, guests find the location is convenient. Area attractions, along with the shopping and dining opportunities in Downtown Allentown, are typically within a 15 to 20-minute drive of the hotel. .
positive:
Friendly service
With a few exceptions (mainly concerning the staff who attend to breakfast), guests find the staff here offer friendly service. The front desk team seems approachable and while they may not be able to resolve every issue, they do at least try and appear sympathetic while doing so. .
Negative Reviews
negative:
Long term renovations
People who have been staying at this hotel as a long term guest mention that the hotel seems to be in a perpetual state of renovation. A much touted swimming pool has been under construction for close to 12 months. Perhaps one day it will actually open. .
negative:
Unreliable Wi-Fi
A number of guests mention that they found the Wi-Fi connection in their room was poor. Bizarrely, when brought to the attention of staff, guests are sometimes told to leave the window open to benefit from a more stable connection. .
negative:
Disappointing bathrooms
Although the general consensus about the guest rooms is that they are reasonably clean and comfortable, guests do tend to find cause for concern in the bathrooms. Aside from not looking all that clean, caulk around the tubs is found to be black. Also, the lighting could be better. .
