The Moscow Kremlin (meaning “fortified town”) became a public museum in March 1806. It is situated on Borovitskiy Hill in the centre of the Russian capital and was listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. Facilities which can be visited include the Armoury , Arsenal, Secret Garden as well as various cathedrals and palaces. Ceremonial processions can also be viewed on Saturdays from April to October. The Kremlin ensemble and its museums are open daily (except Thursdays) between 10h00 and 17h00 and tickets can be purchased from 09h30 to 16h00. The nearest subway stations are Borovitskaya and Biblioteka imeni Lenina.
