Positive Reviews
positive:
Great for access to town centre.
The Wool Merchant is in a fantastic location less than five-minutes from the train station and only a matter of minutes from Halifax town centre. It is very easily accessible from the M62 as well, making the hotel a viable option for business travellers i
positive:
Spacious, bright rooms.
The Wool Merchant is housed in a grand old mill building, so this means the rooms are big and spacious, making for a more comfortable visit. This includes the bathrooms, which are above average size and decorated in a modern fashion.
positive:
Peaceful location.
Despite being so close to the town centre and train station, The Wool Merchant is in a quiet location just away from the main road and near to the Halifax Minster. It is perfectly suitable for guests looking for a quiet weekend away.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Bar not always open when expected.
The bar opening hours are a bit hit and miss. The opening hours can depend on demand from guests. It is worth noting though that Halifax town centre is nearby and has a reputation for having many good pubs to choose from.
negative:
Parking is not free.
Plentiful parking is available near The Wool Merchant, but it is not free as was formerly the case. However, only a small fee applies for parking and it is charged on a day-by-day basis.
negative:
Wi-Fi does not always work.
Wi-Fi is free throughout The Wool Merchant, but given the nature of this old stone building it is not a surprise to find that the Wi-Fi connection can be temperamental depending on which part of the hotel you are in.
