Guests were most impressed by the nightly rate at Dockyard Hotel. For many guests, at the time of their stay i was the lowest priced hotel in the area, and represented a significant value.

Almost every review had a kind word for the hotel's restaurant. They said the food was affordable, served in ample portions, and quite tasty. Many also mentioned enjoying a glass of wine by the cosy fireplace.

Previous guests were generally pleased with the service they received during their stay at Dockyard Hotel. They said the employees they encountered were highly professional and always greeted them with a smile.

The rooms have heating, but no air conditioning, a drawback that many guests found unacceptable. Those that stayed in the peak of summer found the rooms uncomfortably warm, and some even claimed that they had trouble sleeping because of it.

Some previous guests were dismayed to find that their room was located in a separate building, one that they felt lacked in quality by comparison. They suspected those rooms were converted student housing, and felt that the quality was more in line with student housing or a hostel than a hotel.

Some guests were dismayed to find that Dockyard Hotel is over 10 kilometres away from the city centre. Business travellers found this especially unacceptable, and would have much preferred something closer.
