The Pier Hotel (Harwich, United Kingdom)

The hotel is built in the style of a Venetian palazzo in the 18th-century and its blue and white facade is still remarkable. It has a pleasant, welcoming ambience. Guests said that the greetings they received on arrival from the staff and the hosts were so friendly, it gave them a homely feeling. They also liked the nautical themed ambience throughout the hotel. Staff in the hotel is helpful and cordial.

Rooms in the hotel are immaculately clean. The rooms are nicely decorated, some predominantly red and some beige. Beds in the rooms are comfortable and the rooms are equipped with all the facilities. There's Wi-Fi and TVs. Plus, some rooms have splendid views over the harbour.

The hotel is located exactly opposite the Harwich harbour, thus there are great views of the ships entering the Port as well as confluence of the rivers and yachts bustling above the water. Additionally, the hotel is a short walk from the main street shops or taxi, and even ship terminal or trains to London.

Accommodations as well as the food at the hotel as overpriced as compared to other hotels of the same category. Some guests even mentioned that for the price paid its better to stay in London and travel to Harwich by train.

Since the hotel is built in the late 18th-century, its decor in the rooms has become a tad dated. Some guests said the paints in some parts was peeling off. Even the dining room needs some refurbishment, and the menu also needs to be changed to the trending, current demands.

Few guests complained about the noise from the adjacent container yard and said the noise over a period of time was a big botheration.
