Sleeping with the stars
For many, this basic boutique hotel has historic appeal. Though it's long since been bought up by a management company, for a number of guests, there's a certain glamor in sleeping where a number of old Hollywood stars - including Marilyn Monroe - have rested their heads.
positive:
Value for money
Good budget accommodation can be hard to come by in LA, but this hotel fits the bill. Yes, it is no-frills, but for many, its location - near to a number of major Hollywood attractions - meant that it provided overall excellent value for money.
positive:
Clean rooms, good amenities and staff
The rooms here are kept nice and tidy, something that did not go unnoticed by guests. Add to this super strong Wi-Fi, some free morning bagels and helpful staff, and this hotel was hard to beat in terms of the overall guest experience.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Truly no-frills experience
For some, however, things were just a little too basic. Many felt that the breakfast was rather lacking not just in the offerings, but once you snagged your bagel, there were no tables at which to sit and savor it. For others, however, the lack of an elevator was also a problem. Still, a number of guests were more concerned by the fact that there appears to be no one manning reception after dark.
negative:
Parking fees
Unfortunately, this property does not offer on-site parking, but there is a lot available approximately one block from this hotel. However, a number of guests feel that the prices here are too steep for their liking.
negative:
Thin walls
Finally, a number of guests reported that, thanks to this property's rather thin walls, they got to know their neighbors rather intimately during their stays.
