Great food
The food is spoken of as being very good and reasonably priced. Guests speak very appreciatively of the delicious carvery and the quality ales on offer. This is also a great place to host events and receptions felt many guests.

No rooms on the ground floor
The Swan is located in an old three-storey building. There are no rooms on the ground floor and the hotel seems to have no lift, making it difficult, if not impossible, for mobility impaired people to stay here.

Upkeep and cleanliness issues
A few guests felt that the hotel looked rather tired and could do with some updating. A few others felt that the levels of cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Cobwebs, dirty loos and plumbing problems have been reported.

The hotel is in the middle of town where people drop in for a drink and a meal. As such it can get quite crowded and noisy in the evenings and into the night.
