One of the main complaints from former guests at the Somerville Hotel was the rooms were very warm as there was no air conditioning or fans. Some guests also added that some rooms were noisy and that didn't offer great views.

Some guests stated that breakfast fruits served at the Somerville Hotel should have been fresh and not tinned. A number of guests found the service in the restaurant to be slow, waiting up to one hour between starter and main courses. They also added that bar prices were extremely high.
