Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly, accommodating staff.
Smithton Hotel staff are friendly, professional and very accommodating, even ensuring that late- arrival guests coming in from the airport are properly greeted and well-taken care of. Hotel staff are also easy to talk to, with many providing great background information about the area.
positive:
Clean, bright rooms.
Hotel rooms are bright and airy with a fair
amount of space provided in most. Housekeeping staff are brilliant at making
sure that rooms are always clean and that bedding, towels and consumables such
as the free tea and coffee are always replaced or replenished in a timeous
fashion.
positive:
Great breakfast service.
Breakfast service at Smithton Hotel is
excellent with generous portions and a varied choice in breakfast menu items.
The morning breakfast staff are also very efficient in providing fast and
friendly service and the breakfast room itself is spotlessly clean and very
pleasant to eat in.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Thin room walls.
Room walls are quite thin which means that it is very easy to hear the activities in neighbouring rooms as well as the comings and goings of other guests as the entre or leave the premises, often banging the fire doors. Business travellers or light sleepers should perhaps attempt to book rooms at the very end of the property to minimize noise levels.
negative:
No lift onsite.
Guest rooms are spread over multiple levels with several connecting staircases and no onsite lift to make getting to above ground floor rooms easier for elderly travellers or those with mobility issues.
negative:
Rooms and décor dated.
Guest rooms, including en-suite bathroom facilities at Smithton Hotel are quite traditional in both décor and in furnishings which some travellers, more used to modern chain hotels in bigger cities, may find to be somewhat dated.
