Shalimar Park Hotel (Dubai, United Arab Emirates)

Dubai is synonymous with luxury and many of its hotels are internationally renowned for their comfort and elegance. According to the reviews of recent and past guests, this hotel is neither luxurious or particularly comfortable, however many found the location to be more than adequate and guests reported good access to the nearby Deira area. The bus and metro links are handy for getting to Dubai's main attractions.

This hotel may be lacking in some few areas, but many travelers reported that they felt - in terms of the location at least - that this hotel is surprisingly good value for money. While not especially clean, they felt that rooms were spacious.

This could be a good bet for solo travelers, many of whom reported that their basic needs were adequately met.

Despite its well-appointed location, there are consistent complaints here of extremely unhygienic conditions. You may be sharing your room with cockroaches and bugs. Almost all reviewers here reported garbage underneath their beds and what appears to be a consistently cavalier attitude to housekeeping. Dirty floors, sheets and bathrooms and toilets are a common theme. The few families that chose to stay at Shalimar Park Hotel commented very negatively on this particular aspect of the hotel.

To add to the unhygienic conditions, many guests reported that staff are rude and very unhelpful.

There were also issues reported regarding the non-existent air conditioning. While this hotel might be just about tolerable for solo travelers or the backpacker set, according to reviews, those who are expecting anything but the basics might be less than impressed.
