Though many guests choose the hotel for its proximity to the Moonee Valley Racecourse (a short walk across the road) or the Melbourne Showgrounds (a 5-10 minute drive), they are also happy to find the hotel very convenient to the restaurants and bars on Puckle Street and Mount Alexander Road. It's also well connected to the many attractions of Melbourne CBD via tram and train.

Guests generally describe the rooms as clean, comfortable and spacious, with furnishings and in-room amenities of a good standard for the reasonable rates.

The front desk staff have received many glowing reviews for their friendly, accommodating customer service, and the efforts of the housekeeping team are much appreciated, too.

Though drivers appreciate the free parking on site, they comment that the lot is a little small for the size of the building, and note it is sometimes necessary to park on the street. Some have also been flummoxed by the lack of  'temporary' spaces for use during check-in.

Guests note that the there is no elevator on the property; the rooms up two flights of stairs may be best for healthy travellers without lots of bags or small children to carry.

Some guests have been dismayed by poor soundproofing in adjoining rooms, or else woken by noise from the parking lot. Travellers have also been let down by ineffective air conditioning or other room maintenance issues that the staff were unable to resolve to their satisfaction.
