Terrific views and amenities
It's a great bonus to have the scenic ocean views from the room, and a quaint reminder of what awaits when you go sightseeing. The rest of the hotel is just as welcoming and invigorating, with common rooms and spa and fitness amenities that are well maintained and relaxing.
positive:
Perfect location for a getaway
Chatham Bars Inn is conveniently located so you're off of the beach and away from a lot of traffic, yet close enough to easily get to sites of interest. There are cool trails within walking distance for a leisurely stroll, and more extensive areas to explore that are just a short drive away.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Food costs are overpriced
As highly touted as the menus here are, they don't impress at the rate they should. Ingredients and preparations lack creativity and vibrant taste, and aren't as unique as hoped for, given the hotel's reputation. Thus, their prices are considered inflated and not worth it.
negative:
Staff attitude seems snobbish at times
The staff have a less glowing consistency to their customer service skills. They're too curt or not knowledgeable enough, and seem to have some airs about them suggesting snobbery. Doing just enough to meet the basic responsibilities is mostly what guests experience, and it's disappointing.
negative:
Thins walls negate the luxury experience
There's not much insulation between the walls and the floors, so you're likely to hear dogs, kids, television and radio volumes, conversations, and anything else that may disrupt quiet time. Make sure to pack ear plugs.
