The bar serves a European/continental breakfast every morning, and drinks and snacks for the remainder of the day. For other meals, the reception staff will be happy to offer personal dining recommendations.
Hotel Platon is about 2.5 miles from Greece’s main ferry port at Piraeus. For guests looking to view the sights, the spectacular Acropolis complex is about five miles to the north.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Very good value for money
While there was no particular shortage of complaints about the Platon, many guests went on to say that the room-rate they received was very good. Considering that they were in a clean hotel very close to the metro, they believed they received very good value for money.
positive:
Exceptionally helpful staff
Again and again guests mentioned that the staff were simply wonderful. Their English language skills were rated as excellent, and they were described as incredibly helpful, with seemingly nothing too much trouble.
positive:
Close to public transport
The proximity to the metro seemed to be what guests most appreciated about the Platon. Since the hotel was some way from the tourist sights, they were happy that the metro could whisk them north to the Acropolis and Parthenon in next to no time at all.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms looking a bit tired
This was perhaps the most common compliant. There is no denying that it is a fairly old hotel. Some guests were fine with the out of date décor, since they believed they received a very good room-rate. Others were more critical, saying that the rooms needed a major update whatever room-rate was offered.
negative:
No Wi-Fi in the rooms
This was mentioned, but by surprisingly few guests. The Wi-Fi seems to only be installed around reception, meaning that techies, and others, will have to make the trek down there if they want to connect with the world beyond.
negative:
Noise from road out front
The road running in front of the hotel is a very busy highway that runs past the port area. Of course some of the noise from the cars and trucks zooming past drifts into the rooms, causing some guest to mention that their sleep was disturbed.
