Positive Reviews
positive:
Close to Amsterdam's museums.
For museum-goers, Owl's location couldn't get much better. All the most popular museums in the City; including Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum are within easy walking distance, as are the bustling Leidesplein and Vondelpark areas. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
positive:
Going above and beyond.
Reviewers couldn't speak more highly about the staff at the hotel; known to print boarding passes, recommend and book restaurants, give trip suggestions and book tours on behalf of guests, many feel they go above and beyond the call of duty. Guests feel welcome every time they step foot through the doors.
positive:
Excellent continental breakfast.
A continental breakfast is served in the breakfast room every day. The choice is fairly generous and it is re-stocked regularly so you won't go hungry. While there are numerous cafes nearby if you prefer something more substantial in the mornings, most find the breakfasts at Owl fine for their needs.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Compact rooms.
Predictably in a large European City, rooms are fairly compact at Owl and storage space is limited. Some previous guests have gone so far as to suggest that there is little room to move around the bed, but most state that rooms are comfortable and kept very clean.
negative:
Noisy front rooms.
If you are allocated a room at the front of the hotel, you may wish to pack your earplugs. Due to the hotel's central location, you may experience some level of noise disturbance from passing groups.
negative:
Balmy Summer nights.
If your stay falls in Summer you may want to consider the fact that Owl does not have air conditioning. Fans can be provided, but you may not feel this is sufficient.
