Positive Reviews
positive:
Very nice place to stay with children and dogs.
This is a cosy place to stay, especially if you have children and/or dogs with you. The staff are quite gracious, engage with everyone regardless of age, and are equally attentive with the canine guests. It's a tranquil setting where all guests feel at home.
positive:
Beautiful spacious rooms for reasonable prices.
For many, the rooms exceed expectations for the pricing, and present a luxury experience for not so exorbitant costs. They're comfortable enough to store belongings, and to relax in, in between whatever the itinerary is. The home away from home vibe is there, and that greatly contributes to the inn's appeal.
positive:
Wonderful to have as a base for local sightseeing.
Many popular sites are within driving, public transit, and walking distance from Newby Bridge. It's a perfect base for seeing all that the Lake District has to offer, from shopping to Nature trails, to sports and leisure, to museums and other points of entertainment.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Inconsistent housekeeping and drab ambience.
Whereas many guests enjoy the décor, many others find it too washed out, and not as lively as it should be. The rich feel is lost because of drab furnishings, and the upkeep is not successful either. Dust and debris still linger between guest uses, and the bathrooms could also use deeper cleaning.
negative:
Wi-Fi is too spotty and should be improved.
Building age and location aren't good enough reasons anymore for unreliable Wi-Fi signals. The reception here is of course spotty, and more effort should be made into securing stronger and more consistent service.
negative:
Menu is limited and dishes aren't so great.
Sadly, the menu's presentations and tastes are not always thrilling, and the selection is quite slim. The fresh ingredients just don't shine through enough to make the dishes memorable.
