About Miri Marriott Resort & Spa
Situated on its own extensive grounds right on the South China Sea, Miri Marriot Resort & Spa offers luxury accommodation and a wealth of amenities to guests looking for a one stop destination.
Rooms are comfortably furnished and decorated with lovely natural elements and fabrics. Each features air conditioning, minibar, tea/coffee station, in-room safe, alarm clock, work desk and telephone.
The focus at the resort is on its enormous pool terrace with loads of amenities surrounding it, but there’s also a gym, tennis court volleyball court, indoor games room and much more besides.
There are a number of breakfast options, from continental buffet to full American available. Zest Restaurant overlooks the pool, and serves both Italian and Asian cuisines. There are also bars both inside and poolside.
The main attraction is surely the resort itself. Golfers will find the Eastwood Valley course 5.4 miles from the resort, while the airport is just 7 miles away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Stunning pool terrace
This was of course the hub of the resort, and guests seemed to spend much of their day here. The view from the terrace out to sea was said to be especially lovely, but guests most enjoyed either swimming or lazing about poolside.
positive:
Very good breakfast
Guests couldn't stop raving about the breakfast. They almost universally described it as very tasty, and seemed to have something for everyone. As a result, guests who weren't especially picky eaters found that they could try new items every day and so prevent boredom over the course of a holiday.
positive:
Friendly and accommodating staff
Guests couldn't say enough good things about the staff. They had perhaps been afraid that at a big resort such as Miri's, the staff would be cold and impersonal. They were happy to report that this was not the case, and that the staff seemed genuinely friendly, and more than ready to hep when required.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms need updating
While guests really seemed to like the public areas of the pool, saying they were in tip top shape, many were less impressed with their rooms. The main complaint was that the décor was very definitely showing its age, and in the opinion of many should have been updated many years ago.
negative:
Some problems with cleanliness
While not really considered a major issue, several guests did mention that their rooms were not perfectly clean on check-in. In their mind, this was a luxury resort, and the cleaning staff were not showing enough attention to detail to live up to this standard.
negative:
Questions concerning value for money
Several guests questioned whether the hotel and its facilities really justified their pretty high room-rate. In many cases they concluded that it didn't, usually pointing to the lack of attention to detail.
