Positive Reviews
positive:
Exceptionally attentive staff
It was very hard to find even one review that did not praise the hotel's staff in some way. It didn't seem to matter whether guests were referring to the reception staff, the cleaners or the staff at the wine bar, they were all said to have impeccable manners and provide excellent customer service.
positive:
Exquisitely refurbished throughout
Guests were immensely impressed with the way the hotel had been renovated. It was clearly an old building, but one that had been lovingly and very intelligently renovated, so that modern day guests got not only all the modern conveniences, but the added style and character of yesteryear as well.
positive:
Fantastic location in the heart of Bordeaux
Guests couldn't have been any more pleased with the location of the hotel. Most were in Bordeaux for a quick city break and felt that the central location enabled them to walk to all of the city's attractions and amenities they really cared to visit.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Teeny tiny lift
Many guests, especially those unfamiliar with historic French buildings, were a little taken aback with the lift. They described it as exceptionally small, with space for luggage, but perhaps not people. Guests who suffer from even slight claustrophobia should be prepared to take the stairs.
negative:
Rooms vary in style
Each room has been individually designed, and it seems that the broad categories given on booking sites led to some confusion and disappointment when guests discovered that the actual room they received was at least a little different to the one in the pictures.
negative:
Rooms quite expensive
Though guests did not usually directly refer to value for money, many did think that the hotel's room rates were very high; perhaps higher than they were used to paying in provincial France.
