About Junction Hotel
Centred on its award winning and popular restaurant, the Junction also offers ultra modern boutique style accommodation just 1.6 miles from downtown Newcastle.
The nine individually designed rooms are quirky, modern and very trendy. Each features luxury bedding, air conditioning, mini-fridge, satellite TV, work desk, hairdryer and tea/coffee station.
At the very core of the property is the Junction Restaurant and Bar. Check in is in the bar.
The kitchen is open all day until 11:00 PM, and serves up the very best Australia has to offer in terms of ingredients, creativity and preparation. Rump steak is a firm favourite, ideally washed down with a great cab from the bar.
The junction Hotel is a short drive from Newcastle Station and its city centre, but Bar Beach is even closer, just 0.6 miles.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Incredible food at the restaurant downstairs
It seems guests can't speak highly enough of the food at the on-site restaurant. It is described as plentiful, tasty and well prepared. It was almost impossible to find complaints. In fact the Junction Hotel seems to be better known for its restaurant than its rooms, and is the haunt of many locals as well.
positive:
Very modern rooms
While modern décor is usually not to everyone's taste, it seems guests really like the newly renovated rooms at the Junction Hotel (aside from the bathroom walls). Each is individually decorated, and guests definitely do not feel like they are in a bland chain hotel room.
positive:
Fantastic staff members
Guests seem to only have only good things to say about the staff. They are described as fun, friendly and always willing to help when a guest needs a hand.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No room service offered
Strangely, a couple if guest commented that there was no room service offered. The restaurant downstairs is very highly rated, but some solo travellers felt a bit intimidated eating alone there on a rowdy night.
negative:
Can be a little noisy
Considering the rooms are atop a very popular restaurant and bar, complaints about noise are remarkably few and far between. But there are a few, so perhaps some rooms are more susceptible than others. Or, maybe more likely, most guests were at the restaurant or bar downstairs rather and so had nothing to complain about.
negative:
Oh dear…see-through bathrooms
It seems that the trendy design theme has, in some guests eyes, been carried a bit too far. Like many recent design hotels, the Junction has installed the see-through bathrooms, with glass wall between bathroom and sleeping area. Some guests, to put it mildly, do not like this set-up.
