Positive Reviews
positive:
Very engaged owners and staff
Most guests agree that the hotel's managers, Sophia and Costas, are incredibly hands-on. Guests speak of being warmly welcomed and their reasonable requests and issues dealt with. But more than that, they speak of the owners and the rest of the staff being engaged throughout their whole stay.
positive:
Nice and quiet location
While the somewhat remote location wasn't to everyone's liking, some guests did like the fact that it was very peaceful and quiet. In their mind the one mile trip to the beach was a small price to pay for the serenity.
positive:
Grounds and public areas very well kept
Several guests mentioned that the extensive grounds were very well kept, with the garden well tended and looking good. Similarly the public areas inside where also kept very clean and orderly.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Area seems prone to power cuts
A number of guests staying at different times speak of experiencing power cuts. It seems it is a general problem in the area, and nothing specifically to do with the hotel. Of course these can result in inconvenience, but the staff seemed to try to do the best they could to keep things running smoothly.
negative:
Rooms maybe a bit too basic
This wasn't a major complaint, but some guests did find their rooms a bit basic. There were very few repair or structural issues mentioned, it was more just a case of the décor being very simple, with nothing to catch the eye. Some thought the rooms could be improved a bit by undergoing an update.
negative:
Poor Wi-Fi
Unfortunately, like many hotels, the Wi-Fi at Joylife was said to be somewhat less than excellent. The main problem seemed to be that it would be “down” for very long stretches at a time.
