Village Temanuata is 2-star rated. It consists of a range of bungalow accommodation choices and is located on a private section of Matira Beach. Beach, sea view and garden bungalows can sleep up to five people. The bungalows include private bathroom, mini-refrigerator, ceiling fans and mosquito nets (on request). Upgrades include a kitchen. Outside, there is a private terrace area. There is a tropical garden with direct access to the beach. Village Temanuata is family run and the tour desk will arrange diving, sailing, excursions and submarine trips. Snorkeling equipment, bicycles and kayaks are available for hire. An optional breakfast is served in the guest accommodation. Shops and other dining options are a few hundred yards away. Local restaurants include La Villa Mahana and Mai Kai Bora Bora. Vaitape village is less than five miles away and Bora Bora Airport is a 40 minute journey via road and ferry.
This is the place to go to ‘chill out'. Away from all the pressures, you'll relax into, slower-paced, another way of life. The accommodation here is basic but very clean and the host is friendly and English speaking. Very helpful; with his input, you'll soon find your way around.
The sunrise on this beach leaves you in awe and at the other end of the day, the sun setting over Matira Beach, a five minute walk away, is equally inspiring. You'll need transport at some point. A hired scooter will enable you to get to the main town of Vaitape and a kayak gives you the independence to explore ... wherever the new day takes you.
All the accommodation is very close to the beach. There are a couple of bungalows on the sea shore but these can be susceptible to the wind. Ideally, you'll have transport to get you to the local restaurants, but this isn't essential as some restaurants will come and pick you up! *There's a great restaurant just as you enter the village.
The name of the game here is simplicity, so no point in moaning that you can't get the TV to work … there isn't one!
Mattresses have seen better days and the ceiling fan is prone to creaking as it tries to cope.
Breakfast isn't very imaginative and bugs are a bigger problem than they need to be. Not much evidence of any intensive de-bugging efforts.
