You'll find Valley West Inn conveniently located for your trip to Des Moines. Many attractions are an easy drive away such as the Iowa State Fairgrounds and Adventureland. The hotel has access to good highway links - in particular the nearby Interstate 80 which is one of the major highways in the country connecting the two coasts of America.

You'll be able to look forward to an invigorating swim during your stay here thanks to the on-site indoor swimming pool. The water is reported to be warm and there are also loungers located around the pool which are perfect for relaxing with a drink and a good book.

Some guests found the beds very comfortable at this hotel. Of course, whether a bed is comfortable or not largely depends on personal preference but it seems you stand a good chance or a restful night's sleep here.

A few guests were unhappy with the lift in this hotel. The main complaint was the fact that the lift isn't accessible from the ground floor and has to be reached via stairs. It doesn't seem to serve all the upper floors either. Also, the lift can be temperamental, sometimes stopping in-between floors and not working at all.

A few guests have commented on unpleasant smells in their rooms and in the hallways. The main culprits seem to be dampness and cigarette smoke.

Many guests feel that this hotel would benefit from a major renovation. Although the outside of the hotel looks nice, inside the décor is described as outdated and worn out. It seems that the hotel is trying to address these concerns with some renovations starting to take place.
