positive:
Grande-Allée prominence and convenience.
Le Grande-Allée Hôtel & Suites' central spot in the upmarket street of Grande-Allée was found to be a great springboard for heading out to sample Québec City's dining and nightlife. Furthermore, guests said it was within walking distance of Old Québec and the city walls, the Citadelle of Quebec and the Plains of Abraham in Battlefields Park.
positive:
Charming, well-renovated rooms.
Those who stayed here said that despite the age of the hotel, its rooms are well-renovated and simply charming, not to mention comfortable and clean. Almost all of those who stayed found them to be quiet due to good soundproofing, despite the busy street outside and the wide array of nightlife to be found in the area.
positive:
Attentive service and decent buffet.
The American-style breakfast buffet here was thought to be particularly good, given the wide variety of options on offer, and was also said to not be too hard on the wallet. Moreover, guests were happy to arrive to friendly and helpful staff offering attentive service.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Beware: no elevators.
Some of those staying at Le Grande-Allée Hôtel & Suites were unaware that the hotel has no elevators, so those staying on the higher floors, those who are less mobile, or anyone with a lot of baggage may struggle a bit with having to take the stairs.
negative:
A few minor points.
If you are thinking of opting for self parking here, just keep in mind that the parking situation is tight, so you may find it a little tricky. In addition, a few guests reported that some noise from the nearby nightclubs and their patrons was possible — but generally guests were pleasantly surprised at the lack of disturbance. Finally, a handful of guests considered the rooms to be on the small side, but others found them to be actually quite spacious.
