Drivers in particular appreciated the location of this property just off the intersection of Interstate 81 and Interstate 581 north of downtown Roanoke, Virginia. The ample free parking was another plus. It also proved to be convenient for air passengers using Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, which was just a short drive away. Access to theme parks, golf courses and shopping malls was also said to be straightforward. Outdoors enthusiasts liked being within striking distance of Shenandoah National Park.

Guests expressed positive views about the customer service, saying personnel were courteous, friendly and helpful. Check-in was usually quick and easy too. Those traveling with animals were glad pets were allowed in selected rooms.

Although many guests were pleased with the free Wi-Fi service and said it was reliable, others occasionally criticized poor network coverage and sluggish speeds in certain areas of the building.

The lack of toiletries and coffee-makers in the rooms bothered some reviewers as did the towels, which were reportedly small and thin. Several critics also struggled to regulate the room temperature. Cleanliness and maintenance issues such as tired-looking furniture, unsatisfactorily cleaned bathrooms, dirty carpets, stained bedding and smoky smells were also reported in some rooms.

Even though there were a couple of eateries just steps away, some guests felt the choice was too limited. Some critics also bemoaned the lack of breakfast options.
