Guests note that there are a number of shrines and temples around the hotel as well as several unique eateries and shops. The property is situated in the Higashiyama Hills just outside of the Kyoto city center.

Accommodations at the property are packed with in-room amenities including a minibar, free Wi-Fi and The Westin's signature Heavenly Beds. Travelers explain that the rooms are nicely appointed and help you feel relaxed when staying at the hotel.

Several guests point out that the decor at the property is very dated and makes the place feel old. Everything from the furnishings to the fittings seem to be decades old. Despite everything looking a bit weathered, it was noted that the hotel is clean and well maintained.

There are five restaurants at the hotel along with a bar and a cafe but some travelers state that you might be best served eating outside. That's because the eateries are somewhat overpriced. Breakfast in particular was a disappointment according to a number of guests.

The property boasts an on-site fitness center but you will need to pay to use it. A few visitors were unhappy with that policy and claim the gym should be free for everyone to use.
