Hotel The Republic (Big Lake, USA)

Guests noted that accommodations in the Big Lake area can be expensive and those who had stayed at similar hotels felt this establishment was reasonably priced and offered good value.

This is a fairly new hotel and there are limited reviews. Some guests stayed while working at area oil fields and described the accommodations as comfortable and well equipped with tea/coffee makers, Wi-Fi access, flat screen TVs with HBO and DishTV services and kitchenettes equipped  with stoves and refrigerators. They found the en-suite bathrooms modern and well maintained and guests staying for longer periods appreciated the laundry facilities. Ample parking with room for trailers also got a thumbs-up.

The East 2nd Street location, near State Highway 137 & US Highway 67, was described as convenient by those just driving through or with business in the area. Proximity to a couple of BBQ restaurants, Subway and other casual dining was a plus as were several nearby convenience stores.

There were complaints about the smell of cigarette smoke in non smoking rooms, odours from cleaning products and room deodorisers and from rubbish containers that had not been emptied.

Housekeeping standards did not always meet expectations and guests complained about dirty or unswept floors in the lobby and public areas.

The hotel's Double Bed Deluxe Suites disappointed guests who would have preferred king size beds instead. Others complained that the mattresses were hard and uncomfortable.
