Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent location
The majority of guests were really impressed with the hotel’s
location. They describe it as being a little out of central Kyoto,
but that this area was very easy to access using quick public transport. They
also mentioned that the surroundings were much quieter and mote peaceful than
central Kyoto.
positive:
Spacious rooms
It was clear that many guests were pleasantly surprised with the size of their rooms. Perhaps because of the reputation for compact rooms that Japanese hotels have, they seemed to be expecting their room to be much smaller than it was.
positive:
Pleasant and helpful staff
One of the first things guests mentioned in their reviews was that they were very impressed with the hotel’s staff. Many guests said that they were especially pleasant and friendly, and seemed more than willing to help out their guests when needed.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some cleanliness issues
A bit too many guests for comfort felt that their room had not been cleaned properly before they checked in. The general feeling seemed to be that cleaning was a bit slapdash, with some pretty obvious issues not seen to.
negative:
Restaurants close a bit early
Quite a number of guests mentioned that the hotel’s own restaurants closed a bit too early for their liking. They also reported that there were not really any convenient places to grab a bite to eat in the immediate neighbourhood, so that it was difficult to get a good late night meal.
negative:
No coffee in the rooms
A surprising number of guests were unhappy that the hotel supplied only tea in their in room hospitality basket. They would have preferred coffee themselves, and felt that many others would also like this option to be available.
