Hotel The Overstay (Bangkok, Thailand)

The unique, open-minded environment offered by this hostel won a good number of fans, particularly among arty, hippy and creative sorts, who loved being able to jam on instruments, ponder the street art interior, meet some like-minded travellers and artists, enjoy parties and other gatherings and even chill out with some adopted animals. On top of this,  others simply enjoyed relaxing on the rooftop.

Those looking for cheap, basic lodgings and nothing more in terms of cleanliness, peace or security said that this was one of the cheapest options possible.

Guests usually found the staff to be cool and friendly sorts and the overall atmosphere was said to be very warm and welcoming. Moreover, cheap and tasty dining options are apparently found close by and the on-site bar is apparently open around the clock.

Not everyone was impressed with this hostel's very relaxed demeanour, with some guests finding the decor scruffy or unsettling, the cleanliness severely lacking and the fact that animals were hanging around not at all pleasant.

According to reviews left by previous guests, anyone looking for a particular standard of comfort beyond the very basics or the assurance of some peace and quiet at night should look elsewhere, as both seem to be in short demand here.

This hostel was said to be located a decent way away from most of Bangkok's tourist attractions, so anyone looking to be in the middle of these should perhaps look elsewhere.
