Positive Reviews
positive:
Brilliant Attention to Clients
The outstanding quality of service provided by the staff here is commented on by many guests. Staff are helpful with recommendations for restaurants and other facilities in the locality, with carrying luggage and, in an instance where guests left items of clothing behind, in sending them by without charge post.
positive:
Located in a Great District
The immediate vicinity is a vibrant and interesting area, within walking distance of the Space Needle and the waterfront with restaurants and bars and shops. Guests enjoy the wine tasting held in the hotel each night, and regard the hotel as representing very good value for money.
positive:
Well Furnished
The quality of furnishings and the maintenance of the guest rooms were found to be impeccable, including the big, comfortable bed. The décor is first class, based on the 1940s and 1950s, and the quality of bed linen is superb.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Hyperbole and Hidden
A "junior suite" was simply a large guest room. The gold wrapped toilet paper complete with El Gaucho logo, now there's a thought! The unassuming entrance adjoining the El Gaucho Restaurant does not do justice to the hotel. Guests were told, wrongly, that the desk is manned 24 hours a day.
negative:
Infrastructure Woes
A sink that was not draining was reported on the first night but was not fixed, the coffee maker did not work, and it took two days to be replaced.
negative:
A Bit of a Climb
The lack of passenger elevators could prove a problem for elderly guests, and would seem to rule this hotel out for guests with serious mobility issues. Even the able-bodied may find the flights of stairs to reception tiring after walking the steep streets of Seattle.
