The fact that you can reach places like Hollywood, Burbank and Griffith Park in less than half-an-hour is a real plus, as is the relative ease with which coastal delights like Malibu and Santa Monica can be accessed.

Unlike a lot of hotels in this price range, the TVs at the Tarzana Inn proffer premium cable channels with the likes of HBO, ESPN and CNN thrown in. Nice.
As well as being served in a rather small dining area, the complementary breakfasts tend to run out quite early (before 9am). Get there early to avoid disappointment.
