Perfect guesthouse for cricket fans
A great many guests - even those who don't normally enjoy the sound of leather on willow - were bowled over by the views of the local cricket ground from the rear of the property. If you're a big fan of cricket then you'll definitely be in your element here!
positive:
A great base for exploring the North Bay area
The location of this hotel is such that it's within a very easy stroll of Peasholm Park, Scarborough Open Air Theatre and, of course, the beach. Suffice to say, the vast majority of visitors who've stayed here loved being able to reach these sights - as well as several others - without having to drive.
positive:
Hard-working hosts are welcoming and helpful
A significant number of guests have heaped praise upon the down-to-earth and ever-busy hosts who keep this guesthouse (and the cafe up the road) ticking over. Evidently, this is a couple who like to make a lot of effort.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Hotel looks and feels very very dated
The vast majority of visitors who've stayed here have drawn attention to this hotel's rather dated and tired decor. Dark interiors, worn furnishings and a semi-permanent musty odour were the main gripes reported by disgruntled travellers.
negative:
In-room tea and coffee provision is laughable
Despite the fact this guesthouse is in Yorkshire (the spiritual home of tea in England), each room provides just two (2!) teabags for guests to use throughout their stay. It is fair to say precious few visitors appreciated this.
negative:
There's no Wi-Fi
Many guests have been left disappointed and somewhat bewildered by the lack of any kind of Wi-Fi offering at this property. Even nostalgic travellers who appreciate traditional holidays agreed that this was out of touch in this day and age.
