The Camp Nou is the home of FB Barcelona. It replaced the old Les Corts stadium in 1957 after 3 years of construction work mainly with concrete and iron. Its maximum height is 48 meters and it covers 55,000 square meters. It was designed by architects Francesc Mitjans Miró and Josep Soteras Mauri, with the collaboration of Lorenzo García Barbón. The stadium's original name should have been Estadi del FC Barcelona, but it became popular as the Camp Nou (new ground) and in the 2000/01 season members voted Camp Nou as its official name. Its play area has the maximum dimensions authorized by UEFA of 105 metres x 68 metres. The stadium has achieved since the 1998/99 season the 5 star status credited by UEFA. Originally it held a capacity of 120,000 but in order to comply with the UEFA regulations and to get the 5 star status, this was reduced over the years to 98,787. Among other facilities inside the stadium are a chapel, a medical centre, the VIP lounges, the presidential box, the official store, the press room and the FC Barcelona club museum (where among other things the trophies won by the club are displayed).
