A no-frills gem
This hotel advertises itself as a budget option and many found it to be great value for San Juan. However, it's not just the price here that's impressive; indeed, this property is kept spic n' span and the staff is friendly, with many dispensing tips on nearby attractions and restaurants.
positive:
It's the little things
To visitors' delight, this hotel seems to get a lot of things right. The Wi-Fi connection is mighty, the water pressure is strong, the AC is icy cold and the coffee is free. There may not be a hotel lot, but on-street parking doesn't appear to be an issue.
positive:
Convenient for main sites
Many of the city's main sites - including the beach, Old San Juan and Plaza Las Americas Mall - are either a short walk or a bus ride away. For those shopping basics there's also a Wal-Mart close by.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Small rooms
The hotel's website admits that the property's rooms are very bijoux. Despite the warning, for some, the size of the rooms - and the bathrooms in particular - was still a shock.
negative:
Questionable neighborhood
A number of guests commented that while they felt safe during the day, by night, the area in which the hotel is situated can feel a bit dicey. While the front desk buzzes guests in and out, the neighborhood was off-putting for some. Despite this, guests who chose to park their cars on the street reported no incidents.
negative:
No beaches, no breakfast
The nearest beach is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, which is just too far for some. For others, breakfast was the more pressing issue, and while the coffee is free here, it wasn't quite enough to satisfy some rumbling stomachs - especially as this hotel's restaurant is currently under refurbishment.
